KAPPAS IN THE COMMUNITY

McMikle: Simply stated; I speak, teach, train and write for a living! To ex- pand on that, I own a leadership training and development, consulting firm. We offer customized training solutions that equip our clients for success. That in- volves facilitating a lot of training classes and workshops, doing executive and life coaching and an extraordinary amount of motivational speaking. I travel around the country frequently on my “DREAM NOW” conference tour, which is a one-day youth leadership conference that we bring to various schools and organizations interested in developing the leadership capacity of their students. I have published a motivational book entitled, “DREAM NOW: 10 Steps to Accomplish the Extraordinary, which challenges people to step out of an ordinary existence and experience life in extraordinary measure. It’s a blueprint for life and a roadmap to success. I have also published two children’s books (Hey Big Boy & Hey Big Girl), which provide positive life directional messages to elementary and middle school youth! All three books are available on amazon. com. Q: Why are you passionate about what you do?

McMikle: When you find your purpose in life and wake up every day with the opportunity to operate in your area of gifting, you charge each day with the energy and enthusiasm that it deserves. Helping individuals, businesses and organizations unleash their unlimited power and potential and thrive in sus- tained fashion is fulfilling and satisfying. McMikle: My personal and company motto, are one in the same: Educate, Inspire and Empower! That phrase summarizes my purpose. I want to educate, inspire and empower people to be better, do better and accomplish more than they thought was possible before they had an opportunity to come in contact with me. Q: What motto do you live by? McMikle: My favorite book is, “The On-Purpose Person,” by Kevin McCar- thy. I read it once a year. It’s a powerful book, especially for people with busy schedules. It empowers the reader to prioritize the most important aspects of his or her life and proceed accord- ingly, with focus and driven purpose. My favorite line in the book states, “Purpose is energy!” Q: Do you have a favorite book?

Q: How did you find Kappa Alpha Psi ® ?

McMikle: As a student on the campus of Indiana University, there was only one group of men with whom I identified. Kappas were the doers; the movers and shakers; the people who represented themselves with a level of class and commitment to being leaders on campus and in the community. They were members on the faculty, the town police department, college athletes, (includ- ing my teammates on IU’s track team). If you considered yourself an achiever, what other option was there but Kappa Alpha Psi ® ? Q: How do you enjoy serving in leader- ship in Kappa? McMikle: First and foremost, it’s an honor to be elected by the fraternal membership and entrusted with the responsibility of leading at this level. I don’t take it for granted. But to answer your question more directly, serving in leadership has been a pleasure. I’ve had the opportunity to further the purpose and objectives of our fraternity while meeting, developing life-long bonds and working (with and for) some of the greatest men of achievement across the globe.

Publishing achievement for more than 100 years
