officially began demolition of the abandoned Solo Cup manufacturing plant with cel- ebratory help from Baltimore County executive Kevin Ka- menetz, councilwoman Vicki Almond, members of the Bal- timore County Council and a crowd of community and busi- ness leaders. The demolition event marked the first step in building Foundry Rowan approximately 50-acre, $140 million development on Reis- terstown Road. Foundry Row, whichwill fea- ture a Wegmans grocery store, will serve as a retail catalyst and create significant new job opportunities for the greater Owings Mills community and Baltimore County. The project received its zoning approval in August of 2012. “This is a great day for Owings Mills,” said Balti- more County councilwoman Vicki Almond. “Not only will Foundry Row be a focal point for the community, this proj- ect will have a tremendous, positive ripple effect on other initiatives throughout the County.”

Demolition event of the abandoned Solo Cup manufacturing plant

Demolition crews will dis- mantle the vacant 1.8 million s/f, 30+ year-old Solo Cup fac- tory. All of the factory’s steel will be removed and repro- cessed, while its concrete will be recycled on site and made into reusable fill. After completing demolition, Greenberg Gibbons and Van- guard plan to start construc- tion on the new project in fall 2014. Foundry Row is planned to open in late 2015. “Demolishing the old Solo Cup factory to create a vibrant new gateway to Owings Mills is what the community wants

and we are excited to make it happen,” said Brian Gib- bons , chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons. “Foundry Row will help revitalize the area and be a magnet for great customers and new quality retailers.” At the event, Gibbons gave special recognition to 10 dif- ferent community groups that have supported the project since its inception. Foundry Row will feature 365,000 s/f of retail space and in- clude a national fitness anchor, a sporting goods anchor, upscale shops and restaurants. n
