digitally. It’s its own thing, and I think it’s fun to see how illustration and design all came from printmaking originally.” Hullabaloo Press’s influence is visible across campus. More than 80 works from the studio have been added to the UIndy Permanent Art Collection, with pieces displayed in nearly every building. As Hullabaloo Press continues to grow and thrive at UIndy, Fries hopes it will remain more than just a learning space— she envisions it as a hub for connection, creativity, and collaboration. Fries’s passion for letterpress inspired Hannah Parker ’27 (Graphic Design) to get involved with Hullabaloo Press. She realized the experience could open her eyes to another layer of graphic design and give her a competitive edge in her future career. “Everything we do on a computer now used to be a physical process, and learning that made me a better designer,” explained Parker. “Hullabaloo has helped me understand where those skills came from. Printing has a feeling you can’t replicate

Our students make new contacts in the industry. The Press makes new connections with community partners. So it’s celebratory, it’s about the love of print, and it’s about building connections.”
