Why do I want to serve on the Board of Governors: I wish to continue my service on the Board to benefit our wonderful members, families, and staff. As a proud son of 1st Lt. James Quinn who fought under Gen. Patton in WWII, and someone who has served our country all four years of President George H.W. Bush, I want to continue our strong military and patriotic heritage, while strengthening our finances and building new capital projects at both ARL and FFX. If elected, I will continue to fight for more effective governance by reducing the size of our overly large board of 40 Governors, ensuring only elected Board members serve in any officer position, appointing a General Counsel to help oversee contracts, and encouraging greater turnover and diversity on the Board and in officer positions. As the husband of a far better and more popular golfer, Pamela Quinn, who has been President of both women's golf organizations and a leader in the ARFAX and District golf organization and on the Chair's Fairfax Task Force, I'd like to see our fast-growing women's groups in all sports get particular attention in our strategic plan and build out (including their locker room). I'd also like to see us build out a proper sports bar at or near 1924 and resolve the unused dining space on the 2nd floor at ARL. And as the father of five, all members, and grandchildren, all using the Club for dining and other activities and the Club, I want to see us grow carefully, soundly, and safely.
