seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” This prophesies how that men will substitute false religions for the truth. Or they may simply become anti-reli gious. There is no doubt about these facts as we observe our world today. This is true more and more in our own land as we see secularism taking over in every area of life. Statistics alarm ingly reveal that the church is exerting less and less influence on the affairs of men. The only time ministers really have an influence on TV and a privi lege of presenting a message, as an example, is at an hour when most people are not able to view. The Bible, as the Word of God, is questioned. Its authority is being ignored as reason takes the place of revelation. Men speak with authority and God is totally side tracked. The third sign is also an interesting one. In II Timothy 3:1-3 we read, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, un holy, without natural affection, truce- breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.” In this passage Paul goes right to the heart of the problem. It is the destruc tion of the family where there will not be a loyalty of parents to children, or of children to parents. Affections will be absolutely unnatural. One of the correspondents for the New York Times recently wrote that we are living in an age of terror, an age of fear. So we are. Yet those of us who read the Word of God in this hopeless situation can take courage for these are but signs of the soon return of our Lord Jesus.Christ. He will right the wrongs of .the world. This is why we ought to know our Scriptures in order that our hearts may be com forted and that we might not fail be cause of fear. We may look up to the degree that the outlook is dark as we trust in His wonderful Word!

TEN REASONS FOR SWEARING 1. It pleases mother so much. 2. Profanity is a fine mark of manli ness. 3. It proves that I have self-control. 4. It indicates how clearly my mind operates. 5. It makes my conversation so pleas ant to everybody. 6. It leaves no doubt in people's minds as to my good breeding. 7. It impresses people that I have more than ordinary education. 8. It is an unmistakable sign of cul ture and refinement. 9. It makes one a desirable personality among women and children in re spectable society. 10. It is my way of honoring God who said, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” America needs to realize that the use of profanity is a sin in God’s sight whether it be a “ minced” oath or an outward display of blasphemy. It is a reproach to the name of God. “Let every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” * * * Troubles come from, the things we let slip through' our lips rather than those things we let slip through our fingers. 21
