Q . Whittier, California — “W ill the un saved know when Jesus comes for His church?” A. There are two views concerning this question. Some Bible teachers be lieve that unsaved people will not know when the church is raptured or caught away. On the other hand, there are those who believe it will be a public affair and that there will be knowledge of it right at the time of its taking place. Keep in mind that there are two phases of the return of Christ. He comes first of all to meet His church in the air (I Corinthians 15:51-58; I Thessalonians 4:13-18). After the tribulation period upon the earth, He will come back with His church. There is an interesting book, “In the Twinkling of an Eye” by Sidney Watson. It tells about the rapture and the events that take place upon the earth shortly thereafter. Certainly if the actual event is not known immedi ately by the people of the world then, after it takes place, there will be wide spread confusion and commotion. There will be a great deal of questioning and no doubt Bible-searching in those days. Q . Torrance, California — “Should a wife continue going to church when her unsaved husband resents it?” A. Here is a home situation where there is no doubt heartache and heart break existing. Perhaps the husband resents the wife going to church al together. It is possible for a woman whose husband is not interested in the things of the church, to forget that sometimes and becomes too occupied in busy activities to the detriment of her own family. Since the husband has not entered into any of these activities, a wedge is formed which separates them. God founded the home long be fore, He ever founded the church. The church can only be strong as there is unity in the home. The wife should present the entire matter calmly to her husband indicating that she needs a place to worship and fellowship for (continued on next page) 23

shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working where by he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” When the Lord comes it is not going to make any difference whether bodies have been laid away in a grave in a state of complete decay, or whether a body has been burned in a fire and is merely ashes. The condition or the location of the body is of no conse quence. When the Lord Jesus Christ comes we are going to get resurrection bodies fashioned like unto His glorious body. Q . Eugene, Oregon — “In the Bible, mountains, trees and so forth are used as symbols. Are stones used as symbols, too, and if so, what do they signify?” A. There are times when stones are used literally as the stones of the field, but there are also times when stones are used as symbols. Several prominent uses relate to the Lord Jesus Christ in that He is the foundation stone. He is also, in Daniel 2, the Stone which comes down and smites the image of world government. He is the stone which was rejected of the builders who becomes the head of the comer. In addition, I Peter 2:4 and 5 show that stones are used as symbols of believers. Q . De Soto, Kansas —- “W ill you please explain II Cor. 1:22 where Paul says, ‘ Who hath also sealed us, and given us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.’ Also I ’d like help on Ephesians 4:30 which reads, ‘And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.’ ” A. The moment an individual trusts Christ he is baptized into the body of Christ. At this time he is also sealed and indwelt by the Spirit. We frequent ly see boxes or cartons shipped across our land with a seal on them. This indicates ownership and security. We as believers are sealed so that every body can see that we belong to God. This continues “unto the day of re demption.”
