Critical Illness Cover (taxable benefit)

An additional benefit after two years service that is designed to pay a tax-free lump sum of up to £15k should you be diagnosed / suffer and survive a defined, life-threatening illness such as a heart attack, stroke, or cancer for a 14-day period or longer, subject to the insurer’s terms. This is a company-paid type of insurance cover, and you are automatically covered upon your second PAYE service anniversary. This scheme is considered a taxable benefit by the HMRC, and this goes on your P11D. Note WFSW employees become eligible for this scheme from April 2023.
