NYC STREET BARRIERS
New Yorkers are accustomed to seeing safety barriers lining the streets of heavily trafficked areas throughout Manhattan. After the NYPD placed concrete and Jersey barriers along Fifth Avenue storefronts, the Empire State Building’s owners sought to dress the eyesores with something more visually inviting to visitors. DUGGAL’S ROLE Duggal developed artistic barrier covers with a sleek pattern and produced two rounds of prototypes, arriving at a non-adhesive, drape-style final product for 11 concrete and nine Jersey barriers. The Jersey covers were deliberately designed to be shorter than the barriers to avoid chipped ends and allow for a more secure attachment.
