Swimming James Currie was the sole College representative at the New Zealand schools’ swimming meet in Wellington. Competing in the 14 years grade, James was in great form and raced really well to finish in the top five nationally in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, and the 50m and 200m backstroke. James produced his best performance in the 200m freestyle, collecting a bronze medal. Duathlon Kyle Houston competed in the local duathlon championships, which took place at Ruapuna Raceway in very cold, wet conditions. The event consisted of a 2km run followed by laps around the raceway and then transition back to finish with a run. Kyle raced very well and not only won the U16 grade, but was also the first male home overall, even beating the U19 athletes competing.
top 10 of the giant slalom event, with College taking both 1st and 2nd place. The winning team had a combined time of three minutes 38.52 seconds, with the second team only three seconds behind. The winning College team was Bradley Shearer, Sam Willems, Charles Lord and William Picton- Warlow, with the team of Nick Schneideman, George Lill, Kit Lamb and Ollie Moginie finishing 2nd. held in Christchurch over winter tournament week. College had four fencers involved and two came away with medals. Eden Pidgeon was seeded ninth in the Men’s foil competition and performed very well to claim a bronze medal. In the épée discipline, Oscar Aynsley gained a silver medal. This was an outstanding result, as Oscar was facing a Year 13 student who has a top 10 ranking in the Commonwealth.
