Rob Clarke and Neil Nicholson attended the Dawn Parade at Hyde Park corner, along with Prince Harry and his then fiancée Meghan Markle, and the whole group enjoyed their visit to the Gray-Nicolls bat factory, where players like Alastair Cook and Kane Williamson have their bats custom- made. “That was a highlight for some of our boys, and quite a few purchases were made.”

Sadly, the next two games, against Charterhouse and Cranleigh, were unable to proceed, the cold wet conditions preventing pitch preparation. Plenty of sightseeing filled those days, with visits to the Natural History Museum, Wembley Stadium, Piccadilly and other central London sites, and the musical Wicked . The group spent three days in Oxford, touring the university and visiting Christ Church College, whose Dean visited Christ’s College in 2017. Cricket matches were played against St Edward’s College before the group went back to London for another week, attending an English football match at Millwall (against Fulham), visiting Covent Garden, Madame Tussauds and other landmarks.
