will not be available online, their use in this format for in-house research is immeasurable. The Deed of Foundation has also been digitised. A reproduction of this important document is planned and will be hung in-house in the near future. Light, humidity and heat are a deadly combination for photographs and, when the chemical processes of the past are added, degradation is almost inevitable. Poor processing in the final stages of production, because either the fixer was worn out and did not do the job properly or the final washing did not remove the fixer, can result in photographs that gradually darken or gradually lighten until there is no image remaining. For these reasons it was essential that the photographs of the First Cricket XI from 1883–1910 and the First Football XV from 1878 and then 1883–1910 were digitised. Early rowing and shooting photographs, where they have survived, are next on the list. Where to next? Again, using the criteria mentioned above of physical state and importance to College, architectural plans are the obvious choice. College’s architects iv over the years have created hand drawn blueprints and sketches as well as items which are works of art in their own right. More recently plans have arrived on digital media. And where to next again? It is important that having created these resources, that upgrades of hardware and software enable them to be accessed into the future.
