S ince 1910, family-owned and -operated Tuxedo House has been providing Maryland’s finest formal wear to customers across the state and beyond, and has done so from St. John Properties’ Timonium Exchange since 1980. The company offers a full line of men’s tailored suits and tuxedos, as well as shoes, shirts, and formal work attire for restaurant, country club and caterer uniforms — but that’s just a fraction of what the company offers.

The staff is known for filling just about any request, from custom cummerbunds emblazoned with your favorite sports team’s logo, to golden, sparkly, light-up bowties — no request is out of bounds. When Tuxedo House first started, about 80 percent of its space was used for warehousing. As more business owners opened to retail customers, in the mile- long strip they’ve called home for the past 41 years, Tuxedo House also expanded its retail sales floor. Situated in one of Maryland’s longest warehouse

strips, easy access is paramount. The site is just off I-83 and near Timonium’s busy York Road corridor. The location offers easy access to I-695, which intersects I-95. These highways stretch from Maryland to Pennsylvania and New York, so “the access for anybody coming to us, because we are a destination location, is very good,” said Scott Furman, president and owner. Recently the St. John Properties team took on a project to update the storefronts of the entire building. They

“freshened it up and brought it up to the standards of most of the newer, more modern areas of warehouse space,” Furman explained. “That was a big plus.” St. John Properties’ exceptional customer service speaks for itself. “If we have any issues, they’re pretty much out here all the time. Everything with St. John Properties for us has been top notch,” said Furman. He went on to share his appreciation for their support, especially while every industry navigated the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. “One of the reasons we’ve been here as long as we have is because they are such great landlords, especially during the pandemic. Most landlords work with everybody they have to, but with us being here for so long, it’s the relationship that I’ve had with St. John Properties, that has kept us here during and after the pandemic.”
