Fifteen years after founding and successfully operating Just Audio in the Parkville area of Baltimore County, owners John and Monica Panzer and Lenny Florentine started thinking seriously about the next 15 years of their operation. Blinds To Go recently signed a lease with St. John Properties, Inc. for 26,520 square feet of production, distribution, and office space at Arundel Overlook near Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport in Anne Arundel County. The new facilty, located at 941 Mercantile Drive, will employ approximately 50 staff members, and serve as the company’s third manufacturing hub in the United States. Blinds To Go intends to fabricate exterior shutters at this location, with plans to ex- pand the breadth of the production facility in the future. Founded in 1951, the company markets products including aluminum, wood and faux wood blinds; solar, roller and pleat- ed shades and specialty products such as drapery, panel tracks and skylight shades. The company also offers a “Shop-At Home-Services” model in which a Blinds To Go design consultant personally visits a residential or business location to review product types and samples, and to discuss pricing options. Once all product selections are determined, the company arranges for product delivery and installation with third- party vendors.
