In closing, does hiring someone with all these traits mean 100 percent that they will be a good fit for the company and that they will build you a better team? No, it does not, sometimes a new hire is just not a good fit or says the right things during the interview process that gets all the right boxes checked in the hiring process, but they do not work out for one reason or another. However, if you look for these traits in your new hire, we believe that you are putting the odds in your favor that you will have a successful hire and someone that will add value to your company and help you grow your business and brand. •

Continual Learners It is important to hire smart individuals, but it is more important to hire people who are open to learning and the constant pursuit of knowledge whether it is personal or professional. These people enhance social inclusion and active citizenship within the workplace culture, and it encourages others to pursue their own development. They also tend to be natural problem solvers so when there is a problem to be solved internally or externally, they know how to discover new solutions which can be a very valuable skill in a new hire. Those who are great problem solvers tend to find the solution where everyone wins.

Flexibility This has nothing to do with Yoga. You want to hire the person who is prepared to change course based on the business need, and who will learn from each opportunity and adapt their skill sets according to the situation and learn and fail and learn some more as they go. Team Player No one does it alone, so hiring someone who prides themselves on how well they work on their own might not be the right candidate. You want someone who is primarily a team player. Team-oriented individuals know how to contribute to a group’s collective energy and creativity, and they understand that Together, Everyone, Achieves, More, Success, that spells TEAMS in case you did not pick that up.
