The original bridge was closed in spring for safety reasons as it was at the end of its viable lifespan. Replacement cost of the bridge was budgeted at about $1.2 million. The Colautti Group, which has a branch of- !ce in Ottawa, were contracted to replace the old bridge with a pre-fabricated structure. Maranda expects the new bridge will be open for tra"c in September. O"cial inau- guration of the structure is scheduled for Oct. 31.
CHENEY | Tra#c plans for some residents in one neighbourhood of Cheney village have had to include a more out-of-the- way route to work and home for the past few months. The Drouin Road Bridge has been shut down to tra#c since May but the route will re-open again next month. Gilles Maranda, infrastructure director for the City of Clarence-Rockland, con!rmed

En 1960, Claire et Stan débutent leur carrière en enseignement à Pain Court. Stan enseigne les sciences et les mathématiques à l’école secondaire tandis que Claire enseigne les petits à l’école Ste-Catherine. Le 3 avril 1961, en l’église Immaculée-Conception de Pain Court, Claire et Stan s’unissent par le sacrement du mariage et fondent leur petite famille à Pain Court; leurs enfants sont Daniel, Yvette, Anne- Marie et Raymond. En1972, à l’ouverture de l’école secondaireGarneau, la famille quitte le sud de l’Ontario pour venir s’établir à Orléans. Un an plus tard, ils s’établissent à la paroisse St-Claude de Blackburn Hamlet et y demeurent jusqu’en 1986. En juillet de cette année la famille vient s’établir à Rockland. Le 19 mars 1988, Yvette et Edward Dabrowski, !ls de Léopold et Cécilia Lis, s’unissent en l’église de la Très-Sainte- Trinité et ils habitent à Rockland depuis. Le 21 mai 1988, Anne- Marie et Je" Moon, !ls de Maurice et Helen Myers, s’unissent en l’église de la Très-Sainte-Trinité. Ils quittent Rockland pour fonder leur famille àKingston. Le10octobre1988, une épreuve frappe la famille lorsque Raymond décède lors d’un accident d’automobile à l’âge de 22 ans. Daniel, le !ls aîné, habite toujours à Plantagenet.

Demolition of the old bridge is !nished and after the pieces are hauled away, installation of a new pre-fabricated bridge can go ahead. “That’s going to be a big improvement for the resi- dents,” said Maranda. The old Drouin Road Bridge was a one-lane steel- and-wood structure that dated back to the 1920s. The new bridge will have a steel frame with a concrete road deck and will have two lanes for north-south tra"c.

Depuis leur retraite, Stan et Claire apprécient leur famille maintenant devenue plus nombreuse avec les petits- enfants Dabrowski, Raymond, Antoine, Matthieu, et Marie- Claire ainsi que les petits-enfants Moon, Nathalie, Jean- Lucet Patrick.
