. . . and with a Moody

I missed it ,” he said. “ I had an opportunity fo r an investment that w ou ld have brought great finan cial returns. I didn ’t realize it at the time or I w ou ld have acted imm ed iately.” There are unusual occasions spirit ually as well as materially. A young woman said, “ I should have made my decision on that evening when God was speaking to me. It would have saved me many a heartache and dis illusionment.” There are several reasons why peo ple do not respond to God’s invitation. Some say they are not ready at the moment; at another time it will be easier or more convenient. This is what Festus said. God was speaking to him through the voice of Paul but he said, “Not now; it is not a con venient time to act.” Others may be preoccupied with various interests. On the occasion of an invitation to attend the king’s feast, one had business transactions that were so important he could not accept. Another had just married and his life was so occupied that he, too, declined. Still another had made an investment which claimed his entire attention. The great invitation was passed by. Then there are those who cannot be bothered. Personal interests and the common enjoyments of life keep them from considering God’s way of life offered to them. God says, “ Re member thy creator in the days of thy youth.” There may be some who stand on the threshhold of accepting Christ. They are not quite convinced that this is the cause to which they should give their lives. They are considering other ways of life which, at the mo ment, seem more attractive. What should be our attitude toward these people? Should we witness to them regardless of what their decision may be? Yes, you may be the only one who will present the King’s in vitation to them. Your own testimony may be the first challenge they have ever heard. You may be sowing the seed that will later sprout and bring forth fruit. God has promised, “My Word shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please . . .”
