History and Operations of EF1 We are a family operation that has deep roots in America and American Agriculture.

A fact that we are proud of and do not take lightly. Our families’ ancestors came here in the mid-1800s.

A time when this great country was being settled at a rapid pace. They homesteaded and proved up their piece of prosperity, and in such started the legacy of being forever tied to the land. Today , the operation consists of Travis and Summer Engelhard along with their children - Isabel, Gus, George, & Hazel. We are located in northwest North Dakota, where the weather can be extreme. Our Line One Registered Horned Hereford and commercial cattle herd work with mother nature. We calve in the summer, graze all winter on stockpiled pasture and crop residue, feeding hay only when to the main cowherd. Therefore, the cows must be able to travel and take care of themselves and their calves. Structural correctness and fleshing ability is a must. We have always loved the Horned Hereford breed for their toughness, thriftiness, and disposition. But most importantly for the great F1 cross they produce. The true American range cow. We are excited to offer 40 Powerful Long-Aged Horned Hereford bulls

DIRECTIONS TO EF1: EF1 is located along US Hwy 52, two miles southeast of Carpio, ND on the south side of the road. Look for the sign.

B ull P hilosPhy at EF1 The bulls were grown on only mothers’ milk with no creep. They were weaned in the early winter and put on a developing ration in preparation for the following spring turnout on grass. They spend the summer and fall on only native grass. It is here where these bulls start to shine and come into their own. The bulls are then brought up closer to the headquarters where they are fed a low mega-calorie ration for you the customer. We believe in developing the bulls “low and slow”. What you see with our long-aged bulls is true muscle shape and thickness that has been gained like an athlete would train for their sport. Day after day, a little at a time. This will insure their longevity. We guarantee it! If you have any questions along the way please reach out to us. We are here for one reason, to serve you the customer in the best way possible for your profitability in the cattle
