Tony's Open Chain Impact Report 2024/25

2.1 a. Total # and % of cocoa growing households in Tony’s Open Chain's supply chain who are covered by the CLMRS b. Total # of children in

Formerly KPI 10 (revised)

The number of cocoa-growing households in Tony’s Open Chain’s supply chain who are covered by the CLMRS is defined as the number of farming households in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana who are members of one of Tony’s Open Chain’s partner cooperatives during the cocoa season in scope for reporting (regardless of whether they delivered to Tony’s Open Chain in the reported season or not) and who: • have received an in-person monitoring visit, including an interview with the child, since the start of the CLMRS implementation at that cooperative and/or • the household’s risk has been assessed through a systematic analysis of reliable data about the household, using a transparent, documented method of risk assessment, and an evidence-based decision has been made either to include or exclude that household from in-person monitoring visits. In line with the International Cocoa Initiative’s definition of coverage, a child can be considered covered by CLMRS if they live in a household meeting the definition above. The percentage is calculated out of the total number of farmers in Tony’s Open Chain’s supply chain. The number of children is calculated based on all children aged 0-17 that were identified by Community Facilitators during CLMRS household visits. Any changes to the KPI definition or methodology compared to previous years: The wording of the original KPI was: “# of cocoa growing households who participate in the CLMRS”. We revised the KPI to focus on coverage rather than participation, with a stricter requirement for households to be counted as covered, per the requirements outlined above. In addition, we expanded the KPI to include the total number of children covered by the CLMRS as per point b. This KPI refers to the number of child labour cases identified at farming households that are members of Tony’s Open Chain partner cooperatives with the CLMRS in the cocoa season in scope for reporting. The categories for disaggregation are: a. Gender: Male, female b. Most common types of hazardous labour carried out e.g., carrying heavy loads, use of sharp tools, involvement with agrochemicals (specific categories to be defined each year based on findings). c. Cooperative category: longest-term (referring to partner cooperatives in their 2 nd MoU or beyond), or newer partner cooperatives (referring to those in their Initial Collaboration Agreement or 1 st MoU). Changes to the KPI definition or methodology compared to previous years: The KPI has been expanded to include disaggregation across gender, type of hazardous labour and cooperative category. Disaggregation by gender and type of hazardous labour had already been included in the narrative of our previous reports but is now also formally included in the KPIs. Disaggregation of the numbers of cases found per cooperative category, broken down by longest-term and newer partner cooperatives, is new.
