CLIMATE, ENVIRONMENT & PRODUCTIVITY 2024/25: OUR HIGHLIGHTS AND LEARNINGS Together with partner cooperatives, we:
1. Maintained our strong record on deforestation in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, with: a. GPS-polygon mapping and deforestation risk analysis for 100% of cocoa farms b. 99.99.% of Tony’s Open Chain cocoa sourced verified deforestation-free. c. Development of a new Ground-truthing and Remediation Protocol for our supply chain, which we implemented for the 2 confirmed cases of deforestation identified during the 2024/25 season. 2. Designed and implemented the Emergency Productivity Boost together with farmers in Côte d’Ivoire to address productivity-related challenges. This included supporting the set-up and training of 76 labour brigades, and funding subsidised brigade services for 1,664 farmers. 3. In Ghana, we supported the strengthening of Rural Service Centres, leading to the legal registration of 3 Rural Service Centres, and the establishment, equipping, and training of 60 community service groups to expand reach and improve the quality of agricultural labour services in Ghana. 4. Developed and launched an evolved productivity programme – which will be implemented from the 2025/26 season onwards – aimed at boosting farm yields and climate resilience through targeted support and direct investments at the farm level.
2024/25: WHAT’S NEXT?
1. Launching a pilot for the insetting of carbon emissions with Tony’s Chocolonely, with the aim of expanding this to other Mission Allies over time.
Rolling out real-time tools to estimate cocoa yields, while also training partner cooperatives to use this data in their daily operations – helping them plan better and support farmers more effectively.
