Tony's Open Chain Impact Report 2024/25

Since I work mainly on child labour issues, my greatest hope is to see it decrease more and more, even disappear completely. Child labour is dangerous and life-threatening. As for the producers, our parents working in the fields, we must do something for them because they are often neglected. Yet without them, some people wouldn’t have chocolate. When we talk about chocolate, we talk about cocoa. To have cocoa, you need a field, and the fields are dying. We need good agricultural practices, and that means modern techniques. Finally, regarding the profits that chocolatiers make, if we could strive for a more equitable share between producers and chocolatiers, that would be even better. These are my hopes for the world of cocoa farming.

My favourite song is “Côte d’Ivoire” by a famous Ivoirian singer called Josey. Listen here.
