DIOMANDE’S STORY
Of course, not all remediation cases involving older children are complex. One of the Community Facilitators at ECOJAD identified, during a household visit, that Diomande had been helping his father with land clearing. Diomande wasn’t in school at the time, but shared his dream of learning a trade: motorcycle mechanics. As part of the remediation process, he got the tools he needed and started training as a motorcycle mechanic. This pulled him out of dangerous work and gave him a safe path forward. Today, he’s still learning the trade without any issues. A great example of how reintegration can work in the fight against child labour.
