INDOOR CROQUET IN LINCOLNSHIRE By Jonathan Toye

The inaugural Indoor Croquet day at Long Sutton Indoor Bowls Club on Tuesday 23 February proved to be a great success. Twenty-eight people took part, playing Association Croquet in the morning session and Golf Croquet after lunch. Indoor Croquet has been played through the winter months for

several decades but this has been in Sports Halls, unrolling a very heavy carpet with cut out spaces for the hoops which demands a lot of effort to set up and requires a large storage space. The big difference with this particular event was that it was held in a Bowls Hall, on top of the permanent carpet. A new system has been devised by Ken Knock and Jonathan Toye which enables an easily portable arrangement that can be taken to any Bowls Hall or similarly carpeted surface and set up in forty minutes.

We are extremely grateful to the members of Long Sutton Bowls Club who gave us a great welcome and kept everyone supplied with bacon butties and coffee. Because of the positive response we have had two further days of Indoor Croquet at the Bowls Club on Saturday 7 March (Association Croquet) and Tuesday 10 March (Golf Croquet).
