Salaries and Qualifications

The Qualifications section of this guide contains the required qualifications that candidates must meet for each office up for election. A person shall not be considered a candidate for, and is not eligible to be elected to, any state or local elective office if the person has been convicted of a felony involving accepting or giving, or offering to give, any bribe, the embezzlement of public money, extortion or theft of public money, perjury, or conspiracy to commit any of those crimes per Elections Code §20(a). See the specific qualifications for the offices below.

1. Federal & State Offices

Qualifications for Federal and State offices may be found on the California Secretary of State’s website: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/upcoming-elections/primary-election- june-2-2026/qualifications

2. San Bernardino County Offices:

Assessor / Recorder: o Qualifications: Be a registered voter of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised at the time nomination papers are issued according to Government Code §24001. Hold a valid appraiser's certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization or acquire a temporary appraiser's certificate from the State Board of Equalization no later than 30 days after taking office according to Government Code §24002.5.

• Auditor-Controller / Treasurer / Tax Collector o

Qualifications: Be a registered voter of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised at the time nomination papers are issued per Government Code §24001. Meet at least one of the following criteria in accordance with Government Code §26945:
