Healthy: Spring/Summer 2023

GO BEHIND THE SCENES IN YOUR COMMUNITY — VOLUNTEER!

It’s the healthy habit that is a hallmark of Dublin’s character – service and volunteer engagement. We value the thousands of volunteers who make an impact every day on our physical, mental and social well- being. The spring and summer seasons bring an abundance of needs as the City of Dublin partners with the community to accomplish the following: SPECIAL EVENTS

• St. Patrick’s Day Parade • Earth Month • Independence Day • The Dublin Irish Festival

If you’re interested in volunteering with the City of Dublin for any of these opportunities and more, please email volunteer@dublin.oh.us.

The Bluebird Team Keep Dublin’s bluebird population healthy and plentiful in parks and public land by monitoring bluebird boxes and maintaining box standards. This is a great, family-friendly service project and one you can do on your own time. Dublin Heritage Interpreters Help to bring history alive! Share your knowledge and love of history with residents and visitors who enjoy Dublin’s park system, specifically Ferris Wright Park. When you become a Heritage Interpreter, you receive in-depth training on the park’s rich history, from ancient earthworks to modern-day use. The Giving Garden Spend at least once a week tending to, watering and harvesting the Giving Garden, a vegetable and herb garden at the Historic Coffman Homestead. The garden is included in historic tours of the property – while all produce is donated to the Dublin Food Pantry. MLK Civic Service Series The City of Dublin is proud to facilitate the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Civic Service Series. This is a collection of volunteer service and community impact days to honor Dr. King’s vision of creating a beloved community. Join us for impact talks and service projects in April, September and November. Recreation Program Assistants There are numerous ways to assist our teams at the Dublin Community Recreation Center. Assist instructors with classes at the Dublin Community Recreation Center on a quarterly basis, enjoy the arts as a Theater Usher, or spend some time with children in the Wee Folk Room. This is a great way to work with kids, seniors, or adults to learn, grow and meet other members of the Dublin community. You don’t need a formal volunteer program to do the right thing. Remember to reach out to those around you, offer a random act of kindness when you can, and get to know your neighbors, support your Dublin community with a spirit of service and giving!
