To help on the genetic selection side, we have helped simplify genetic selection this year through these unique “stamps” based upon the EPD’s and pedigrees of the bulls selling.
CALVING EASE STAMP
We strive to produce young sires that will rank in the Top 35% of the breed for Calving Ease Direct (CED) that grow fast and add pounds in the right package. CED is the most important indicator to help ensure less difficulties when calving, the bulls with a Calving Ease stamp in the catalog are ones deemed safe for use on first calf heifers.
MATERNAL STAMP
Maternal traits are essential for profitability in the cattle industry. If you are keeping replacement heifers, the bulls with a Maternal stamp have had their dam or granddam receive Dam of Merit or Dam of Distinction honors. Of all cows in the Gelbvieh Association, only the top 5% qualify for Dam of Merit and top 1% for Dam of Distinction!
