34 / F I N A N C I A L I N FO RMA T I O N A service charge of 1/2 of 1 % of each month's unpaid balance is charged to all deferred payment accounts. Cash accounts are free of all service fees. All students anticipating a need for financial assistance (loans, grants and scholarships) must arrange for their parents to file the Parents' Confidential Statement with College Scholarship Serv­ ice as explained on page 35. Applications for financial aid will not be processed until the results of filing this statement have been received by Biola College. A student is not registered and cannot attend classes until satisfactory financial arrangements have been made with the Financial Aids Office. REFUNDS Since faculty engagements and other commitments are made by the college for the entire year in advance, the following refund schedule has been established in order that the college and the student may share the loss equitably when it is necessary for a student to withdraw: Withdrawal within first two weeks of classes: 1. Tuition- full amount less $75.00. 2. Board- pro-rated as of end of week in whi ch meal ticket is turned in to cashier. 3. Room-pro-rated as of end of month in which student withdraws. Withdrawal after the fi rst two weeks and before the end of the fifth week of classes :

1. Tuition-50% refund. 2. Room-same as above. 3. Board- same as above. Withdrawal after fifth week of cla sses : 1. Tuition- no refund.

All refunds must be requested by letter with full explanation, date or receipt of vvhich determines the refund period. EMPLOYMENT The College maintains an Employment Office for the benefit of students needing part-time work to defray expenses. While this office does not guarantee employment, an effort is made to place every needy student. Jobs are available, both on and off campus, according to the student's ability, capacity to handle the added burden of employ­ ment, and financial need. Normally a student can expect to earn $600 to $900 per year part-time. The student who finds it necessary to work for the entire amount of his living expenses should plan on extending the time required for his course of study.
