CHRISTIAN EDUCATION OF ADULTS. (2) Techniques in general program planning, organization, and administration of the adult church program, accenting the establishment and function of the Christian home. Either semester. 403, 404. SEMINAR: DIRECTED FIELD WORK. (1, 1 or 3, 3) Practical experience in the areas of the student's vocational interest with faculty counseling and supervision. 405. GROUP COMMUNICATION. (3) A survey of contemporary communication theory including general semantics and group dynamics. The study of leader­ ship, group process, and interpersonal relations in the small group. (See Speech 405.) Office management, fundamentals of bookkeeping anq record systems, business and office furniture and machines, spirit and mimeograph duplication. Relationship of Christian Edu­ cation and secretarial position. Review of basic principles of curriculum construction and use of representative literature in the Christian Education field. Includes evaluation and construction of materials for various age groups according to individual needs. Study and evaluation of the counselor and the counseling process. Counseling as it relates to conversion, subsequent growth, leadership counseling, and the educational inten­ tions of the church. Reading in special areas of work: voca­ tional guidance, sex education, etc. DOCTRINE Obiectives. The primary objectives of the doctrine courses are as follows: to give the student a thorough grasp of all the major doctrines of the Word of God; to correlate the whole into one defensible system which will form a solid foundation for the under­ standing and intelligent use of the Bible; to promote warm Chris­ tian experience and spiritual maturity. The approach to all areas of doctrinal study is Biblical rather than philosophical. The method of study is sensibly dispensational and the viewpoint is clearly pre­ millennial. Special attention is given to the problems of liberalism and modern cults in their doctrinal aspects. The lecture method of study is followed and reference is made to the Biblical languages.
