(2) A survey and analysis of choral literature used in the Chris­ tian church from the Renaissance to the present. 315. LITURGIES. (2) Orders of worship; historical development of traditional orders of worship in major Christian faiths. 316. CHURCH MUSIC ADMINISTRATION. (2) Developing the music program of the church: relation of the ministry of music to the congregation, music committee, and pastor; graded choir systems; equipment; general organiza­ tions; music of the church school.

415, 416. CHURCH MUSIC INTERNSHIP. (2, 2)

Practical experience in conducting church choral groups of various age levels; experience in church music administra­ tion as an assistant under recognized church musicians in the Southern California area.

418. PROBLEMS IN CHURCH MUSIC. (2)

Current church music philosophies with discussion of par­ ticular problems confronting evangelical church musicians. To be taken concurrently with 416.

Conducting 307, 308. CHORAL CONDUCTING I and II. (3, 3)

One hour devoted to techniques of teaching, considering prob­ lems of blend, balance, diction, tone production, rehearsal. Two hours devoted to developing conducting skills and score reading.
