Continuation of Speech 261 with special attention on the actor's resources: voice, movement, emotion, expression, and tempo. Stress on stage business and characterization.

Analysis of the legislative, legal, ceremonial, campaign, and sermonic forms of public address; consideration of outstand­ ing speeches that illustrate these forms; some practice in speech composition and delivery.

403, 404. HISTORY OF RHETORIC AND PUBLIC ADDRESS. (3, 3)

Survey of the leading trends in rhetorical theory and prac­ tice; analysis of selected treatises and orations.

405. GROUP COMMUNICATION. (3)

A survey of contemporary communication theory including general semantics and group dynamics. The study of leader­ ship, group process, and interpersonal relations in the small group.

425. ORGANIC SPEECH PATHOLOGY. (3)

Etiology and treatment of cerebral palsy, cleft palate, aphasia, and organic disorders. Prerequisite: 320.

426. NON-ORGANIC SPEECH PATHOLOGY. (3)
