(2) The development of curriculum and selection of materials for the teaching of social studies in the elementary schools. 314. CORRECTIVE SPEECH. (2) Recognition and diagnosis of speech difficulties as they may be found in the public schools. 316. GENERAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL METHODS. (3) A general course in methods and classroom management, including safety and fire prevention. 401. AUDIO VISUAL (2) A study of audio visual aids applicable to the teaching process in the elementary schools. Includes learning the operation of equipment. 402. THIRD DIMENSION. (2) Prerequisite: Education 401. Third dimensional presentation of audio visual aids. 403. TESTS AND MEASUREMENTS. (3) - Basic background in elementary statistics, intelligence testing, and a workable knowledge of achievement tests. 405. PRACTICE TEACHING. (8) Actual teaching experience in a public school classroom situation under supervision. 406. CHILDREN’S LITERATURE. (2) An introduction to children’s literature at all levels of the elementary school, with consideration for criteria of selection, child reading interests, and expressional forms. 412. PUBLIC SCHOOL LAW AND FINANCE. (2) The public school law as it applies to the rights and duties of the teacher, legal safeguards for children, and basis of public school support. 450. SEMINAR. (2) Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor. A research and discussion course for individuals who desire to deal with special problems of administration, organization, method or curriculum, met with on the mission field or in private schools.
