Students entering the College with advanced standing must meet the residence requirements for graduation: the Senior year of residence with at least twelve units of classroom work per semester and, a minimum of 15 units of upper division work in the major field, in the baccalaureate program. SPECIAL STANDING. Those who present reasons satisfactory to the Ad missions Committee are privileged to take an elective course consisting of a minimum of five hours of class room work which includes at least one Bible subject. Unless sufficient reason is presented, a student is not allowed to remain in this classification for more than one year. · It is essential that students from other countries be able to understand directions and lectures in English and also be able to express their thoughts clearly in spoken English immediately upon arrival on campus. In order that the applicant's proficiency in English may be determined the applicant should take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as administered by the Educational Testing Service at the nearest overseas examination center. Because this Test is normally administered only twice a year, ·the candidate for admission should make inquiry as to the testing dates well in advance of the date of anticipated matriculation in the United States. The applicant is required to file a form of English Certification signed by a pro fessor of English, a cultural relations attache, a diplomatic or consular official of the United States, or a delegated representative of one of these persons. Financial Responsibility: All applicants for admission to Biola College must establish the degree of their financial responsibility to meet the costs of an edu cat ion in the United States. The student must supply information attesting to his ability to provide United States dollars in the minimum amount required to support the costs of tuition and room and board, in excess of the cost of a round trip fare from his native country . Foreign students admitted to the United States on a student visa are required by law to be registered as full-time students, carrying a minimum of 12 credit units of academic work.
