All courses in psychology have for their ultimate purpose the better understanding of human nature and, through this understanding, greater ade­ quacy in dealing with its problems. There is a definite attempt to afford points of contact with biology, philosophy, theology, history, and sociology_ Therefore, courses are taught with constant reference to values broader than the strict discipline which psychology would require. Department Major. The Department of Psychology offers a major in Psychology designed to prepare students for graduate school studies in one of the fields of psychology. Major Requirements_· 33 units, 24 of which must be upper division, including 206, 305, 306, 308 or 302, 309, 402 or 411, 405 , 415 , and 416 . Science Require­ ments: Biological Science 101, 300; Physics 108. Department Minor: 20 units, 15 of which must be upper division.
