World Food Programme (WFP) IGNITE: Capital Where It Is Hardest to Reach Designed to support agribusiness-focused micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in South Sudan, the WFP IGNITE Challenge shows that capital access is not only a problem in established markets. In South Sudan, AfriLabs supported 11 agribusiness MSMEs through competitive selection, structured training, mentorship, and USD $325,000 in catalytic grant funding - 45% of the cohort were women. The programme focused on increasing revenue, improving production efficiency, creating jobs, and building climate- resilient food systems in one of the world’s most fragile economic contexts. That AfriLabs can operate effectively across the capital spectrum - from ACDR’s digital deal infrastructure to IGNITE’s ground- level grants - reflects the full range of its ecosystem role.
