Africa carries a disproportionate share of the world’s disease burden and a proportionally small share of its health infrastructure investment. Health tech on the continent is growing - but it needs more than capital. It needs visibility, coordination, and the kind of peer ecosystem that turns isolated innovations into replicable models. In 2025, AfriLabs made its first deliberate activation of this vertical through the Afreximbank Healthcare Hackathon -
delivered under the SME Development Forum at the Intra-African Trade Fair - which created a structured platform for African health innovators to present solutions, access feedback, and connect with partners and investors. This was reinforced at the AfriLabs Annual Gathering, where a dedicated Health Track focused on innovative financing models for HealthTech scale.
The health vertical was activated in 2025, and in 2026, it will be built.
