From Network to Economic Infrastructure
Over the years, as AfriLabs’ network expanded from 40 hubs to more than 500 across 53 countries, the question shifted. It was no longer ‘how large can we grow?’ It became: ‘how durable can we become?’ In 2025, AfriLabs made a deliberate strategic pivot - from expansion-driven growth to institutional consolidation. The focus
moved toward building the operational, digital, policy, and partnership architecture required to function not only as a connector of ecosystems but also as a foundational layer within them. In this context, infrastructure means reliability, coordination, and scale. It means reducing fragmentation
across markets. It means strengthening the channels through which capital, knowledge, policy dialogue, and talent flow across Africa.
Bridging Fragmentation Across Ecosystems
Africa’s booming innovation scene faced growing hurdles: disjointed markets, uneven capital flows, and patchy support networks. AfriLabs tackled these in 2025 by forging tighter links among hubs, investors, and regulators - unlocking smoother pathways for funding, expertise, and collaborations continent- wide.
$2.7M Mobilised across programmes

These outcomes demonstrate scale and structural coherence across three ecosystem layers - policy dialogue for enabling environments, platforms like AfriLabs Connect Deal Room (ACDR) for capital access, and hub-led programs for startup/community impact.
