Student Congress: Our Student Congress - Levine’s student leadership team elected by its peers each year - encapsulates both Student Activities and Community Service. The weekly meetings of the Student Congress will initially focus on service projects that the Middle School should pursue. Their ideas are not determinant, as any student can choose his/her own community service projects, but the aim of the Student Congress is to promote service as a prominent co-curricular activity, and it will come up with enticing projects to capture the interest of its fellow Middle School students. Recent examples of what the Student Congress has promoted in the area of community service learning and activities: Spring 2021 • 5th grade read The Kid's Guide to Service Projects: Over 500 Service Ideas for Young People Who Want to Make a Difference • 5th grade voted on using Dollars4Denim funds to donate to the following organizations: • 6th Grade had a Toy Drive • 6th Grade organized a Peanut Butter Drive for North Texas Food Drive • 6 th Grade families distributed yard signs for Childhood Cancer Awareness Fall/Winter 2020/2021 • 7th grade volunteered at Feed My Starving Children • 7th grade brought in school supplies for the Spanish Schoolhouse • 7th grade conducted a canned food drive benefiting Feed My Starving Children Winter 2021 • 8th grade made Family Game Night Bags for Dallas Children's Advocacy Center • 8 th grade turned its focus to its year-end mitzvah project, which evolved into a campaign to benefit Levine Academy and its Mission o Rainforest Alliance o Defenders of Wildlife o North Texas Food Bank o Feed My Starving Children Fall 2020
