Introduction In the course of its self-study, the technology committee evaluated strengths, limitations, and challenges for each of the following criterion: • Student Information Systems and Learning Information Systems (SIS and LMS) • content delivery and resource availabi lity
• digital curriculumand software • policies and policy enforcement • instructional technology • professional development for staff and faculty • technology literacy for students.
Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems The student information system at Levine Academy is the backbone of our digital information system and is the means by which student records, as well as academic records, and faculty and staff records are tracked and managed. Levine uses Senior Information Systems as its student information management system, as well as admissions coordination, billing, and general student data record keeping. After careful consideration and evaluation of practices in place, it was an administrative decision to move forward with the purchase of a learning management system, Schoology , to better assist and serve our learning community comprised of faculty and students. In the fall of the school year 2018-2019, Schoology was implemented as a pilot program for evaluation and use by a select group of educators in an effort to strategically place and align team leaders and coaching specialists for a full roll out in 2019-2020. A full roll out of the Schoology LMS commenced in the fall of the 2019-2020 school year. At this time, all K-8 instructors utilize Schoology as their primary means of communication, attendance records, gradebook management and curriculummaterial s management in the classroom. Our decision to make this change was twofold. We aspired to articulate curricular mapping more effectively relative to teacher-parent communication, and allow the ability for students, teachers, and parents to track the stu dent’s progress horizontally and vertically throughout the learning process and educational journey at Levine. Our future goals with an LMS integration at Levine Academy are to be fully assimilated through the teachers, students, staff, and Levine community, and to streamline communication and data sharing and create transparency in record keeping and learning progress. In our next step of the process, we are moving to create a seamless connection between Schoology and our student information system Senior Systems, to synchronize data and information. Our biggest challenge has been the double entry system of tracking
