Self Study Report

The switch to a virtual program temporarily, then intermittently, during the 2020-2021 school year relied heavily on Levine’s reliable content delivery and availability of resources. In addition to Schoology being a critical piece of Levine’ s success for at- home learning delivery and management, the school sent laptops home to families in need, and secured docu-cams, smartboard cameras, microphones, and eventually 30 Swivel cams to integrate the at-home student into the classroom experience more fully. Using smartboard cameras and microphones in addition to Swivel technology with Zoom, teachers were given the ability to stream classes live as they were teaching them, directly from the classroom, allowing for collaboration between virtual and in person students. Moving forward, Levine Academy administrators are working toward a schedule for regularly evaluating aged and dated technology equipment and repairing and replacing items as needed. Actions have been taken to prepare and implement a process for review of new technology software and hardware, as well as the creation of a methodology for the selection, testing and implementation of hardware and software systems. In addition to the careful creation of these processes, Levine is moving toward a goal of all 4 th through 8 th grade students actively utilizing the same personal learning device all day, as opposed to a myriad of available devices, for quality control and security purposes. Digital Curriculum and Software Levine Academy utilizes a wide variety of digital software media and curriculums in both the lower school and in the middle school classrooms. Levine is in the process of customizing a regular review system in which digital software and curriculums are regularly visited, reevaluated and assessed to ensure they are effectively meeting goal s and expectations. A sampling of utilized digital software is attached in Addendum1. Library and Media Resources Our library at Levine Academy employs a digital online catalog, named Follett Destiny. Students have access to the online catalog via the two computers that are part of the library collection on site, as well as a link downloaded on the desktop of each Levine Academy desktop and laptop computer on campus. All students are able to utilize the Levine Academy has a detailed digital citizenship policy in the student handbook that students are required to read and agree to yearly. This policy is managed by the students’ individual advisors who ensure that the students in their personal advisory section adhere to the policies and procedures mandated by the policy in the Parent/Student Handbook. --Refer to Addendum2 for our policies and procedures as stated in the Parent/Student Handbook for misconduct, which outlines specifics on technology misuse. link provided for browsing and internet research capabilities.
