Therefore, our task ahead is to find ways to bring a diversity of talent into our school for special programming, or to expose our students to different communities on our overnight trips or during community service opportunities.
Plans and Priorities:
• The Admin Team will be working on revising our Handbook – which we want to now call our Community Handbook. In this new revision, our aim is to define and spell out clearly these inclusive values we wish to uphold, and this will entail defining what we mean by bias, inclusion, discrimination, equity, harassment, and bullying. We are undertaking this task during the Summer of 2021 and hope to have a finished draft in the fall of 2021. • Our Admissions effort, including our marketing efforts, will need to concentrate on reaching a more diverse community of prospective families. Certainly, the areas we can improve on will be to reach out to the Reform Jewish community as well as the unaffil iated Jewish community, while all along making the appeal that we are an inclusive school that is open to those families who are aligned with our school’s Mission Statement. We see this priority as involving a new marketing and outreach campaign. • Keeping the issues of inclusion and equity on the agenda during faculty and admin team meetings, and also keeping it uppermost in our planning for faculty and staff professional development, will be vital in the near term. Yet it will be challenging, as we don’t want to ignore or discount the necessity for ongoing professional development in a whole host of topics related to instruction, social and emotional learning, technology, and innovation.
