Overview The Ann and Nate Levine Academy Early Childhood program celebrates the uniqueness of every child. The learning process is emphasized through carefully planned learning centers and interest areas that invite children to make choices, to explore, to create, and to develop a life-long love of learning. Our comprehensive and developmentally appropriate curriculum is designed to promote each child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. Small class sizes enable the faculty to support and facilitate individualized attention and the ability to adapt curriculum to fit the needs of the students. Our state of the art classrooms are equipped with the latest technology and furniture that is specifically designed to meet the needs of every type of learner. The Ann and Nate Levine Academy Early Childhood Center has 137 children enrolled from Infants (youngest students begin here at 3 months) to Pre-kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year. There are currently 28 children in our Three’s cluster divided into three classrooms and 51 children in our Pre-kindergarten cluster divided into 5 classrooms. Every classroom has two teachers – either 2 co-teachers or a lead teacher with an assistant teacher. Our Early Childhood pro gram also has “Specialists” who teach music, science, Jewish Studies, Hebrew, social skills, and physical education. There is one full-time permanent substitute teacher to provide consistent coverage if a teacher is absent. Our Early Childhood Center has one full -time Director, one Assistant to the Director and one full-time Director of Early-care/After-care. Prospective families interested in our Early Childhood program must apply and fill out an application. Families are given a tour of our campus where they can see our classrooms and the learning that is taking place. Our experienced and qualified faculty is available to speak with touring families and answer any questions they may h ave. Our teachers and staff take pride in the warm, nurturing and safe environment that we have created here at Levine Academy’s Early Childhood Center. Prior to the start of each school year, all students are offered home visits by their teachers as a way of meeting the teachers and easing the transition from home to school. Our regular school day is from 8:45AM to 12:45PM for our Three’s cluster and from 8:45AM to 1:45PM for our Pre-K cluster. We offer Early-care starting at 7:45AM and After-care programs that continue until 6:00PM. Curriculum Overview The curriculum in our Early Childhood center focuses on three specific areas: Social/Emotional Development, Beginning Math, and Language/Early Literacy. In order to facilitate cognitive development, emphasis is placed on developing self -motivation and active investigation through questioning, exploring and observing, as well as through thinking and problem-solving. Children are immersed in classrooms complete with rich literacy activities and materials: books, environmental print, and phonetic and whole language programs.
