non-trustees with finance/investment backgrounds. Additionally, the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation assists in the analysis of the school’s endowment, which is considered by the Investment Committee in allocating amounts between equity and bond fund options. The school’s policy has been to annually draw up to 5 percent of the trailing 8 quarters’ balances of the endowment in its annual operating budget.

Facilities Facilities Overview

Ann & Nate Levine Academy is located on a 10.5-acre campus in Far North Dallas, at the southwest corner of Hillcrest and Frankford Roads. The campus includes a 142,000 square foot building which houses two gymnasiums, cafetorium, two libraries, music and art rooms, five science labs, classrooms and offices. Other resources on campus include an athletic field, multiple playgrounds, basketball, and soccer areas. Since 2013, the original building has undergone a complete renovation which included the addition of a Science and Discovery Center, an Early Childhood Library, a Home Sciences Center, in addition to new meeting spaces and offices. All of these renovations were an upgrade to our early childhood through second grade classrooms. More recently, the early childhood classrooms were refurnished and equipped with new, flexible, furniture in 2018. Also in 2018, Levine launched its first “21 st Century Classroom, ” a math classroom with flexible seating and workstations — this new classroom is the home for our 5 th and 6 th Grade math classes. The school owns one vehicle, a 14-passenger van, which offers shuttle service to and from school; pick up in the morning is from Congregation Tiferet Israel and afternoon drop-off is located at the Dallas Jewish Community Center (JCC). Maintenance of the facility is managed by the Facilities Director, who manages a staff of two school employees plus subcontractors for daytime cleaning, room setups, and nightly cleaning and sanitization. The Facilities Director also coordinates all of the annual health, fire and building inspections and all vendors coming on campus to maintain the building and grounds. The school has also added sanitization equipment to the campus in order to combat virus spread such as UV-C lamps that are run nightly in all classrooms. All the major equipment and the majority of school records are also stored on campus. Records are also stored electronically out of state via the software systems Levine employs such as Senior Systems, Schoology, Tadpoles, Final Site, Bloomerang, etc. Wh en required, facility improvements such as the school’s new greenhouse are permitted with the city of Dallas. The campus also undergoes annual and other periodic inspections to comply with state and local health, safety and fire regulations. The board’s Facilities Committee has implemented a master campus plan, approved by the city of Dallas, in order to help guide the physical capital projects for the foreseeable future.
