school’s campus, the Early Childhood main lobby area, just inside the main entrance, a place we call “EC Central,” there is an illuminated version of the Mission Statement, alongside an entire wall dedicated to illuminating each of the school’s seven middot (values) which are derived from the school’s Mission ideal of Jewish values. Just inside the school’s K8 entrance, our Mission Statement appears professionally affixed upo n the glass façade of our Admissions Office. The school is constantly seeking ways to project the full Mission Statement, as we recognize the value of making it constantly available for our parent and faculty constituencies. Philosophical Issues Embedded in the Mission Statement: The administrative team and the Board members are cognizant that the main ideals inserted into the Mission Statement deserve to be analyzed and evaluated frequently. One of the most significant words in our current Mission Statement, at least to those of us main constituents of Levine Academy, happens to be the word “Inclusivity.” The school entered into a multi- year process of looking closely at the term “Inclusivity,” in order to better understand its full impact in our school community, to seize on the ways that Levine can harness the benefits of our promotion of Inclusivity, and to help steer the direction of the school’s reputation in ways that honor the aims of Inclusivity. There is also a shared hope among the key constituent leaders of Levine, that our next iteration of the Mission Statement, should the Board consider its revision, will entail looking squarely upon the main concepts of the Mission and to entertain any multi - constituent desire to highlight the care, the nurturing, and the efforts to support the social-emotional development of the Levine students. We want to be sure that we are balancing our program that encourages academic achievement with the aim of bestowing nurture, guidance, and support to all of our students. Strengths & Achievements • The Mission Statement has not been a stale, static document - in fact, the Board has looked closely at its meaning and relevance in recent years and has revised the Statement accordingly three times in the past eleven years. • The Mission Statement’s key ideals - namely, the words Inclusive and Dynamic, are actively being embraced and defined by the administrative team, the faculty, and the Board. • The Mission Statement contains values and ideals that are recognized and showcased annually, one concept at a time, within the entire school culture. The seven middot (values) are Holiness, Respect, Citizenship, Caring, Integrity, Justice, and Responsibility. • The Mission Statement appears on many school publications, is affixed to the walls of every classroom, and is prominently displayed inside the two front entrances to the school. • The Mission Statement’s main ideals have been influential in supporting many of the school’s curricular and professional development initiatives over the past seven years.
