The courses that meet the general education requirement are the following: COMMUNICATIONS 3 units The following speech communications courses fulfill the general education requirement: 101, 105, 144,and 212. Permission of the department is required for any other course to meet the general education requirement. The absolute minimum is one semester of four units (or two years of the same high school language). Most students must complete course work which will take them through the first semester of a second year in a language (twelve units) . Those with four years of the same high school language have completed this requirement. Students who have had a foreign language in high school and wish to continue the same language in college should consult with the foreign language department for proper placement. International students for whom English is a second language need not take a foreign language. Students entering with no foreign language or desiring to begin a language in college may find they will need to complete more units than the minimum listed for a degree in their major.
1. Completion of all academic requirements and approval of the student's graduation petition by the major advisor and the registrar. 2. A minimum of twenty-four units must be taken at Biola College, including at least fifteen units (upper division level) in the major field . 3. A "C" average (or a 2.00 grade point average) is required on all work taken at Biola College, and within the major field. . SPECIAL NOTE: All graduation requirements may be met within four school years by carrying approximately 16 or 17 units each semester. A student may still be graduated within four years if he wishes to take a lighter load and will enroll in summer school. Biblical Studies and Theology Requirement Biola College is committed to a strong Biblical emphasis. A firm foundation in the Word of God is imperative for all God' s servants, regardless of what type of ministry they may enter. A total of 30 units of Biblical Studies and Theology must be included in the program of each student according to the requirements of the American Association of Bible Colleges. Each student must take at least one course each semester until he has fulfilled the requirement. The following e required: BIBLICAL STUDIES 101 Old Testament History I 3 units 102 Old Testament History II 3 units 201 New Testament Literature I 3 units 202 New Testament Literature II 3 units 300 Early Christian History - Acts 3 units THEOLOGY: 00 Biblical Foundations 3 units 300 God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit 3 units 310 Man, Sin, and Salvation 3 units or N.T. 302 Romans 3 units 410 The Church , and Future Things 3 units Electives in Biblical Studies and Theology 3 units Note: Students who select a liberal arts major may count only a total of 30 units of Biblical Studies and Theology toward the required units for a degree. Any liberal arts major may also take as electives a maximum of six units in Christian Education and/or Missions. The maximum limit for recognized correspondence courses in Bible is six units. Part-time students (less than 12 units per semester) are required to include at least one Biblical Studies and Theology course within each 15 units completed at Biola College unless the 30 unit requirement has been met. Part-time students seeking a degree from Biola College must complete the entire requirement as outlined above. General Education Requirement It is the purpose of the general education requirement to introduce the student to areas of study that mature the mind, open new vistas of appreciation and understanding, enrich social relationships, and develop skills and aptitudes that can aid the student in furthering his personal and social usefulness. Since it is the purpose of a liberal arts education to create a broad base upon which to build one's continuing education, the student is allowed to select from the following

Students who may have completed 3 units of World Civilization are advised to take either 110 History and the Biblical Record or 111 Readings in World Civilization to complete the requirement.
200 United States History. (4 units)
Students who may have completed 3 units of United States History are advised to take 210 Themes in American History to complete the requirement.
LITERATURE
3 units
250 Introductory Studies in Literature or one of the following: (with consent of department) 360, 370, 440, 450, or foreign language literature
3 units
PHILOSOPHY
Any one of the following will meet this requirement: 202 Introduction to Philosophy 205 Logic 301 Greek and Roman Philosophy 303 Modern Philosophy 305 Ethics
