Division of Humanities and Fine Arts

Mr. William Shanebeck, Chairperson

The Humanities and Fine Arts Division offers majors in art, communications, English , humanities, and music. Within each of these broad majors there is a diversity of specific programs available, depending upon the student' s individual interests and goals. Although there are no majors in foreign languages or philosophy, a student may major in humanities with an emphasis in Greek, German, Spanish , or philosophy. Because the areas under humanities and fine arts aim toward an understanding of man - his ideas and aspirations, his search for spiritual identity and meaning - they educate the student to communicate that understanding in practical and creative ways through lay ministries and church-related vocations. They also prepare students for teaching and further graduate work.
