It is believed that the thirty-two units required in this program will give the student a broad background in a relatively short period of time. Premajor Requirements: Greek 101, 102. Department Major: Bible majors must take the lower division Bible courses required of all students. These are 101, 102, 201 or 303, 202, and Doctrine 101. In addition, majors must take 103 and 24 upper divi sion units, including 301, 302, 402, and Doctrine 302. Required supporting courses are Hi story 327 or Sociology 404; Greek 201, 202 ; Christian Education 201. 101 EARLY HEBREW HISTORY (3) Genesis through Deuteronomy; introductory problems of authorship, sources, and his­ torical accuracy; synthetic presentation of the content of each book. 102 LATER HEBREW HISTORY (3) Biblical history from Joshua through Esther; Hebrew poetic form and literary devices of the poetic books. 103 PROPHETIC LITERATURE I-SURVEY (3) Old Testament prophetic section; content, interpretation, and historical relations of each book. 105 TYPOLOGY (2) Old Testament types in Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus; the Tabernacle, offerings , and feasts, emphasizing the spiritual lessons which can be applied to personal life. 106 CHAPTER SUMMARY (2) Introduction, demonstration, and use of the Chapter Summary method of Bible study in selected books of the Bible with application of the text to various phases of the Christian life. 201 NEW TESTAMENT LITERATURE I (3) Literature of the four gospels; use of narrative, historical method, sources, authorship, and content of each gospel; the synoptic problem and contribution of each gospel to knowledge of Christ. 202 NEW TESTAMENT LITERATURE II (3 ) All epistles discussed in relation to epistolary form, content, theological contribution, canonicity, and interpretation ; historical background in comparison with the book of Acts. 301 EARLY CHRISTIAN HISTORY- ACTS (3) The book of Acts with emphasis on the missionary philosophy and activity of the early church and its current application. 302 ANALYSIS OF THE EPISTLE TO THE ROMANS (3) An analysis of the text with emphasis upon doctrine and spiritual · truths. 303 NEW TESTAMENT HISTORY I-CHRIST (3) An historical treatment of the life and message of Jesus Christ as recorded in the gospels in the light of the background conditions of that time. 304 NEW TESTAMENT HISTORY II-PAUL (2) The life and journeys of the apostle Paul and his contribution to the spread of the gospel from Palestine to the center of the Roman Empire.
