201, 202 INTERMEDIATE GREEK GRAMMAR (3, 3) Review and advance in grammar and syntax with reading in both Classical and New Testament Greek. Prerequisite: 101, 102 or equivalence. 301, 302 HELLENISTIC GREEK (3, 3) Readings in the Septuagint and the New Testament together with selections from Jewish, patristic, and pagan writers of the Hellenistic period. Prerequisite: two years of Greek. 405 INTRODUCTION TO NEW TESTAMENT TEXTUAL CRITICISM (3) A survey of the materials, history, and theories of New Testament textual criticism. Prerequisites: Doctrine 301 and two years of Greek. 406 PRAXIS OF NEW TESTAMENT TEXTUAL CRITICISM (3) Designed to develop ability to gather and evaluate the evidence for various readings in the text of the New Testament. Prerequisite: 405 or permission of instructor. 409, 410 READINGS IN BIBLICAL GREEK (1-3, 1-3) Individual research for advanced students in areas of Biblical (LXX or N.T.) Greek grammar, translation, or text. Prerequisite: three years of Greek and/ or permission of instructor. 411, 412 READINGS IN CLASSICAL GREEK (1-3, 1-3) Individual research for ,advanced students in classical grammar and/or literature. Study may include one or more of the following areas: Homer, historians, playwrights, Plato, Demosthenes. Prerequisite: three years of Greek and/or permission of instructor. Spanish Students who have taken 2 years of high school Spanish may not take Spanish 101 for credit. Students with 3 or 4 years of high school Spanish should consult with department for proper placement. Students whose native language is Spanish may not take lower-divi sion courses for credit. 24 upper division units, including Spanish 310, or equiva­ lent. The requirement of 24 units of upper-division work recognizes that the student has had 12 units of lower-division work (101, 102, 201 ) , or its equiva­ lent, or has passed a proficiency examination which would permit entrance into upper-division work. Either semester. 401, 402 SURVEY OF SPANISH AMERICAN LITERATURE (3, 3) A survey of literature of Hispanic America to modern times; reading and discussion of outstanding literary works and movements.
