If the home of the student is within the Los Angeles Metropolitan area and it should otherwi se be imposs ible to attend , he may enter the college and reside at home for half the dur ation of hi s course . 3. If employment of a man requires out side res idence thi s must be g ranted from th e Dean of Students. 4. Should other circumsta nces ex ist whereby it is clear! ) not feasible for the student to res ide in the coll ege, specia l permi ss ion to li ve elsewhere must be obtained from th e Dean of Stud ents. THE DORMITORIES Rooms are equipped with individual stud y desks, single beds, individual wardrobe closets and ches ts of drawers. Each fl oo r has baths. shower rooms , and laundry rooms equi pped with mete red washi ng machines and dri ers. Whil e a fev, s ingle ro oms are avai lable in the women's do rmitor y, most are for two stud ents. Stud ents are expected to supply th eir blankets , and bedspreads. Students take care of their own rooms. Students supply their own electri c irons; however, these ma y not be used in students ' rooms. The use of electri c hea ter s and hot pl ates is not pe rmitt ed in students ' rooms . Each dormito ry unit is in charge of a qua lifi ed house mother. The admini strati on reserves the ri ght to inspect student rooms at any time. STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES Biola College offers a Health Servi ce for all registered students . Ths servi ce is under the di rec ti on of a med ica l doc to r and a registered nurse. The office hours are durin g the regula r school days : Monda y through Friday 7 :00 a.m. to 9 :30 p.m . A nu rse is on call weekends. These services include consultation and t rea tment by the college ph ys ician, first a id, and infir_mary nursing care. There is a registra ti on medi cal fee to cover this !::erv1ce. A medical consent fo rm must be signed by parent or guardian for all unmarri ed students under twenty-one years of age. This consent does not take away a student 's privil ege of choos ing their own medical care, but does give the college physician permi ss ion to t reat the student . Biola offers protection to th e student against certain expenses caused by accident, injury, or emergency illness in the form of a required plan of medical insurance. The cos t of thi s insurance is to be covered by the student. The estimated cos t of thi s insuran ce is $10.00 per semester and this is subject to change fr om time to time by the compan y. Biola does not assume any responsibility for serious illness or accident on or off campus, in or ou t of school games or acti vities. The use of the school facilities is at your own per sonal r isk. CHRISTIAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT One of the distin gui shing features of Biola College, consistently woven into its life for the past fifty years, is its emphasis on Christian Service.
