ART FUNDAMENTALS. (2) Fundamentals ·of des ign and composition in dark and li ght media, free hand drawing, elementary letter ing, experi ence in rendering the various media and materia ls in relati on to Elementary and Secondary school studies in Art. 202. TECHNIQUES OF ART. (2) Original work and des ign in survey of media and materials used in Ele mentary and Secondary Schools. Crayon, charcoal, watercolor, pastel, finger painting, paper sculpture. paper mache and clay. 301. WATER COLOR I. (2) Interpretative painting usin g transpa rent and opaque paints. 302. HANDCRAFT. (2) Survey of crafts deal ing with co pper. mosaics, linoleum block printing, ceramics and leather. 303. WATER COLOR II. (3) Studies in .water color painting such as gouache. pen ink, landscape, seascape and portrait. 304. OIL PAINTING II. ( 3) Studio experience in pictorial problems. MUSIC Objective. The objective of the Departmen t of Music is two-fold: (1) to provide competent instruction in the fi eld of music, and (2) to provide the specialized training necessa ry for th e fi elds of app lied music, church music, and music education. Entrance Requirements. In addition to the regular College requirements, students entering the Department of Music must also pass an audition to determine performance leve l. Those unabl e to meet the department require ments may in certain cases be admitted on probation. Deficiencies must be removed before admission to the upper division . · 51
