MATHEMATICS Objective. The purpose of thi s department is to provide a background in mathematics whi ch is needed for further wo rk in education, psychology, and science. 51. BAS IC MATHEMATICS . NURSING Edncational Philosophy : Becau se we a re convinced that there is a need for more qualifi ed Chri sti an nurses, we a re proposing this coo rdinated program in general coll ege educa tion and nurs ing. The program is fi ve years in length. It will give ample opportunity for a th orough Chri sti an education with a major in Bi ological Science and Nurs ing. It will give a continuing hospital experi ence without fra gment ati on and a continuing associati on with people of different ages and conditi ons. T he Nursi ng di ploma obtained fr om the Los Angeles Count y Gene ral Hospita l Schoo l of Nursing qualifies the g raduate for service on a hospital or clinic staff at home or abroad . Admission: Students are eligible to appl y for admi ss ion to the Biola Nursing Progra,n if they ( 1) have been admitted to Bi ola College and (2) have completed algebra , plane geometr y, two years of for eign language, and chemistr y in high schoo l.
