200 CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR NURSING - LECTURE (3) The philosophy of nursing including man , the health consumer, seen as a unique individual , deserving of meaningful relationships with others; the nature of nursing, the nursing process , interpersonal relationships , professional nursing, independent and dependent nursing functions, ethics, a beginning understanding of legal aspects , interviewing, and communications skills. 301 ADULT NURSING I - LECTURE (6) The healthy family including the importance of nutrition, environment, sensory stimulation , and life style in maintaining health. A beginning focus on the illness portion of the health-illness cycle; an introduction to the nurse' s role as a change agent as he intervenes toward the return to health , adaptation to a new level of function , or peaceful death. Prerequisite: 200. 301 ADULT NURSING I - LABORATORY (3) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on: (1) a community survey; (2) assessment of a healthy family; and (3) at a beginning level , identification of an intervention to meet the needs of the mature family member who is hospitalized. Nine hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 302 ADULT NURSING II - LECTURE (6) Continuation of 301. In depth study of the major illnesses (acute and chronic) affecting the maturing family. An emphasis on the nurse ' s role as a change agent as he intervenes toward the return to health, adaptation to a new level of functioning , or peaceful death. Concepts introduced in 200 expanded. Prerequisite: 301. 302 ADULT NURSING II - LABORATORY (3) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on the mature family member with a major illness requiring hospitalization. The student cares for a family which has been disrupted by illness. Nine hours laboratory. Fee $10. 00. 401 NURSING OF THE CHILD - LECTURE (4) Family-centered parent and child care during the development of the child. Emphasis on the nurse 's role in maintaining health or improving the level of wellness with the child and/ or family in disequilibrium. Information from growth and development, nutrition , pharmacology, and other disciplines included. 401 NURSING OF THE CHILD - LABORATORY (3) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on child care at home and in the hospital in acute and long-term rehabilitative settings. Nine hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 402 MATERNITY NURSING - LECTURE (4) Family-centered parent and infant care during the maternity cycle. Emphasis on the nurse's role in maintaining health in the healthy family and improving the level of wellness with the family in disequilibrium. Information from psychology, sociology, nutrition , pharmacology, and other disciplines included . 402 MATERNITY NURSING - LABORATORY (3) Theory and concurrent laboratory experiences focusing on meeting the needs of healthy or problem families in the physical , emotional , social , cognitive, and spiritual areas. Families are observed and cared for antepartally, during labor and delivery, post-partally, and in the

Emphasis on leadership behavior in nursing.Trends and issues in modern nursing. The nurse' s role in relation to the health care systems, nursing organizations, legal responsibilities and legislation pertaining to nursing education and practice. Beginning investigation of selected patient problems. 410 ADVANCED NURSING - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience providing leadership opportunity to supervise a nursing team and collaborate with other members of the health team. An indepth study on selected and relevant nursing problems. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 420 COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH NURSING - LECTURE (4) The role of the nurse therapist in community mental health identified. Physical and socio-cultural variables considered when assessing the client's needs in the cognitive, emotional, and spiritual areas. Student utilizes self as an effective change agent and considers behavioral concepts in relation to one ' s own mental health. 420 COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH NURSING - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience in clinical facilities for the promotion of mental health , prevention of mental illness, nurturing, curative and rehabilitative aspects of nursing with Nutrition and Pharmacology integrated throughout. The one-to-one relationship, group, and other therapeutic approaches analyzed and utilized. Development of beginning skills in assessment of community mental health problems and in problem solving. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 430 NURSING IN THE COMMUNITY - LECTURE (4) Health and illness in the community as related to Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Prevention and Epidemiology including nursing intervention and assessment of individuals and families. The application of the philosophy and scope of family-community health based on a study of families from cultures different from that of the student; hard core multiproblem families , the culture of poverty, families with communicable diseases, MCH families and others; patterns of health and disease of community and preventive and control measure, health education , rehabilitation, and related problems. Prerequisite: 402 or acceptable equivalent. 430 NURSING IN THE COMMUNITY - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience in community facilities, applying the nursing process in the health care system in identifying and caring for those in health and illness with Nutrition and Pharmacology integrated. Public Health Agencies and Visiting Nurse Association with individual and group projects, including health education , community assessment of public health problems and solutions. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00.
